Filling station of senior bureaucrat's niece sealed over adulteration

Anantnag, June 3: Authorities on Thursday sealed a filling station, registered in the name of Khurshid Ahmad Ganai's niece in Mattan area of the district for selling adulterated fuel. Police, Revenue and CAPD in a joint operation sealed the diesel point of the filling station fallowing written complaints from the local drivers of adulteration, sources said. They said that officials of all three departments visited the Lidder valley filling station this morning and found complaints of drives correct after seizing the diesel containing water content. Drivers who refilled their vehicles from the filling station this morning got irritated after their almost fresh vehicles stopped working. "As soon as I left the filling station my vehicle stopped and the fuel pump developed problems." Iqbal Ahmad, a local driver told Early Times, adding, he along with others filed a complaint in Police Station Mattan after a Mechanic confirmed break down and poor ignition because of the adulterated fuel.
Taking swift action on the complaints of drivers, Station House officer Mattan along Revenue and CAPD officials raided the filling station of Indian Oil and sealed it after finding the complaints of the drivers correct, Eyewitness told Early Times. They also said that officials took the samples from the filling station. Deputy Director CAPD, South Kashmir, Nisar Ahmad Zargar, who raided the filling station with Revenue and Police officials confirmed to Early Times that they have sealed the station over adulteration. "There is no doubt we have found adulterated diesel being sold to drivers and have taken samples for testing besides sealing it." He said. He said that department has initiated action the filling station owner under the Essential commodities Act. Lidder Valley filling station is registered in the name of Rubeena Ganai and she is niece of Khurshid Ahmad Ganai, one of the senior most IAS officers of J&K.
