Police cracks blind murder mystery, arrests prime accused

Kathua, June 3: Kathua police today claimed to have solved the blind murder case of PHE employee in Billawer (Kathua) within days of its occurrence with the arrest of prime accused. Illicit relations have been reason behind the murder, police said. According to police spokesperson, the body of one person identified namely as Mohd Ishaq S/O Samhas Din R/O Koti W-2 Billawar was found near Charai Dug well, Billawar under suspicious circumstances whereupon an inquest proceeding U/S 174 CrPC was initiated to ascertain the actual cause of death 23/05/2014. "During the course of enquiry, it was found that the deceased was murdered and accordingly a case FIR No.59/2014 u/s 302 RPC was registered at P/S Billawar and investigation of the case started, police said.
Police spokesperson said, "Keeping in view the sensitivity of the case and gravity of the offence, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) headed by SDPO Basohli and under the overall supervision of SP Kathua Mohan Lal was constituted. "Taking different aspects of the life of the deceased, the SIT picked one suspect namely Joginder S/O Madan Lal R/O Mansar on his movements and activities in Billawar area and particularly on day of occurrence.
"it was established that said Joginder had illicit relations with the wife of the deceased, police said adding, "wife of the deceased conspired with her paramour Joginder Kumar and instigated him to eliminate her husband in view of their strained relations and frequent scuffles/arguments."
"On the day of crime occurrence, she called Joginder and informed him about the movements of her husband, Police said quoting the disclosure of prime accused, adding, "subsequently Mohd Ishaq who was working as Motor man in the PHE Department was intercepted by the accused namely Joginder S/O Madan Lal R/O Mansar near Charai Dug Well Billawar located on the banks of river Naj during wee hours of May 23 when he was returning from duty and the accused inflected injuries on the back of his neck with sharp edged weapon and subsequently with stones thereby killing him on spot.'
Investigation of the case is in progress.
