Srinagar, June 20: Political affairs committee of the National Conference (NC) is under tremendous pressure as the new faces in the party are expecting mandate for the forthcoming assembly elections while the veterans of political battles are not ready to call it quits as yet. NC Mandate committee comprising NasirAslam, Ali Muhammad Sagar, Mouhammad Shafiuri, Abdul Rahemm Rather and Ramzan Chowdry is in a fix as there as as many as six aspirants from several seats central, North and South Kashmir. In Mini battle ground Sonawar where from NC Patron DrFarooq Abdullah Is doubtful to contest, besides sitting MLA Muhammad Yaseen Shah, Ghulam Muhammad Pardesi and Moulvi Bilal are also demanding mandate. Sources said that from Zadibal constituency besides sitting MLA Peer Afaq, two new faces who are in panel are Nazir- ud- din and Ghulam Muhammad Hakeem and each claims ticket to contest upcoming assembly elections and keeping in view dominant vote of Shia Muslims of the constituency, party is facing problems to nominate candidate. In Mubarak Gul'sEidgah constituency where from NC lost to PDP by arround 1300 votes in recently concluded parliamentary elections another face besides Mubarak Gul is former deputy mayor of city, Engineer Syed Chashoo who according to some party workers and locals of the area is more deserving than Gul as locals allege that Syed Chashoo compared to Mubarak Gul has more fan following in the area than Gul in present times and is considered a strong candidate to contest upcoming assembly elections. Sources said that from Habakadal Constituency party is undecided to chose one among the three names which include Salman Sagar son of Senior NC leader Ali Muhammad Sagar,sitting MLA Shamima Firdous and Sabeena Jan. In Central Kashmir's Ganaderbal constituency which is considered battle ground of Sheikh dynasty as almost all members of Sheikh dynasty so far have contested elections from Ganderbal, besides according to sources Omar or Farooq Abdullah, Ishfaq Jabar, Muhammad yousuf Bhat, Farooq Ganderbali and Mian Altaf are front line runners for two constituencies. Sources said that from North Kashmir's Baramullah constituency Ghulam Hassan Rahi,Shahid Ali Shah, Tariq Kakroo, MuhammadYousuf Dar besides Nazir Hussain Khan who contested elections are in que and each demanding ticket to contest upcoming assembly elections. In Sangrama constituency, GHMohi-ud-din Sofi, Mohd Yaqoob Wani, advocate irfanhafiz,Ghulam Rasool Bhat and Harjeet Singh, besides last time candidate Dr Ghulam Qadir are in panel of new candidates. From Pattan constituency besides former candidate Abdul Rasheed shaheen, Agha Mahmud, Riyaz Ahmad are in panel. From Tangmarg besides fromer candidates and bureaucrat Showkat Mir, Ghulam Mohd Reshi are new faces. From Rafiabad Ghulam Mohd Khan, advocate Mohdmaq boolmir and former candidateJavaid Dar are in panel. Sources said that two days back NC leadership in absence of party Patron Farooq Abdullah finalized some names from different constituencies which include GhulamNabi Rattan Puri from Pulwama, Mohi-ud-din Mir from Rajpora, Dr GhulamNabi from Tral,Omar Abdullah from Hazratbal, Farooq Abdulah from Sonwar, Ishfaq Jabar from Ganderbal, Chowdry Ramzan from Hanwara, Mian Altaf from Kangan, Javaid Dar from Rafiabad and Shafiuri from Uri, Showkat Ganai from Wachi Shopian,Sheikh Muhammad Rafi from Shopian, Altaf Misger from Pehalgam, Dr Mehboob Beigh from Anantnag, Dr Bashir from Bijbehara, however due to flood of panels of candiadates received from these and other constituencies, leadrrship could not finalise the names of candidates and halted the process till Farooq Abdullah reaches back to Kashmir. |
