| BJP leaders targetted by CM go into hibernation | | Party workers happy, say their 'observation' stands vindicated | | ET Report
JAMMU, June 20: A handful of BJP leaders who faced embarrassment at the hands of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah in a function at Jammu club last week have gone into hibernation and have not attended the party office nor taken part in any routine political activity for the last few days. On the contrary, the workers of the party post this development are said to be a happy lot for certain reasons and in a way celebrating for what they contend that their oft repeated views and observations stand vindicated.
Sources said after revelations made by Chief Minister against the BJP , particularly a couple of leaders by name, they have stayed away from the party office even as the leaders convened a press conference at the instance of the high command in a bid to come clear of the strongly worded allegations of having taken favours from the Government. Party sources also said that while murmers about their absence are going around in party headquarters at Kachhi Chawni, the rumor mill has this also to grind that state unit of BJP is in for few more negative developments in coming days and elements are active to wash dirty linen against one another within the party on account of which a couple of leaders may face humiliating situation, albeit on different grounds.
However, on the other hand, sources said majority of the workers and cadres surprisingly are too happy about what happened during the last few days. The workers are happy over the fact that this expose has pushed to edge certain leaders who had monopolized everything in the party and were not ready to listen to view point of others all the time, sources said. Sources further said that workers are also happy about the fact that while they would put forth this observation in party meetings that image of these leaders among public is not good in terms of labeling them close to Government, particularly power corridors of ruling NC. But their point was never taken seriously and on the contrary the leadership would snub them for critical remarks against these leaders. While the workers would present their observation from the ground level about a handful of party leaders cozying up with BJP and seldom speaking against the ruling elite in the party, they would only feel disappointed and suffocated by snubbing approach of party leadership only to keep the matters under the carpet. However, when the revelations have been made by none other than the sources from where they would get benefits and favours, workers are satisfied at least some channel has brought forth the truth they would plead before the party which went unheeded and unheard. |
