Doda, June 20: expressing concerns over the increase in road mishaps taking toll of precious lives, large number of people from Doda town and its adjoin areas staged protest demonstration at old Bus Stand Doda against the pathetic condition of NH-1B from Batote to Doda and Kishtwar. Addressing the gathering Adv Imtiaz Hussain Mir, Adv Hassan Babar, Ishtiaq Ahmed Dev and others said that the roads in erstwhile Doda are in pathetic condition be it NH-1B or interiors roads connecting to far flung villages within erstwhile Doda district. Putting blames on Distt Administration, Distt Police, Traffic Police, GREF, R&B Department for failing to maintain the better road connectivity, the protestors alleged that their alleged callous approach towards their responsibilities have resulted the roads in pathetic condition. "It is all due to the carelessness and negligence of the authorities that the accidents are on the rise day by day, speakers said and added, "we have lost two precious lives in Bhagwah accident and five others are struggling for life.' They alleged if ARTO Office has become a hub of corrupt practices and issuing driving licences and fitness certificates without proper checking, on the hand traffic police allows all sorts of violations in exchange for enticement from the defaulting driver whereas the R&B and the GREF have utterly failed to maintain the roads conditions Protesting locals also submitted a memorandum of suggestions and measures to district administration and cautioned administration of a mass agitation if their demands are not met. |
