| Jagti migrants reel under power scarcity, Govt unmoved: Pandita | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, June 20: A joint meeting of the Jagti Tenement Committee (JTC) and Soan Kashmir Front (SKF) J&K was held here today under chairmanship of the president of the organizations Shadi Lal Pandita. While addressing the participants Pandita expressed his grave concern over the hatched conspiracy of the Government to add to the sufferings of the migrants putting up in Jagti Migrant Camp. He further said that the migrants from the date of their shifting to Jagti Migrant Camp have been subjected to unscheduled power cuts while the government has done nothing to mitigate the sufferings of the migrant community. Pandita said that presently 14 hours of power curtailments is being imposed in Jagti Migrant Camp due to which the residents are facing hardships alleging in the last 15 days more than 33 persons have died in this migrant camp due to sun/heat strokes. Pandita has said that despite repeated requests and representations to the government and the Power Development Department for ensuring regular power supply to this migrant camp but nothing has been done till date. The meeting also raised several demands including implementing Prime Minister's Employment package in letter and spirit by filling up left out posts, conducting on spot police recruitment drive in Jagti Migrant Camp, repairs of cracks developed in different residential blocks in Jagti and checking of leakages, ensuring availability of medicines viz a viz appointment of male and female doctors in the existing first aid medical dispensary and providing ambulances to this Dispensary and enhancement of monthly cash relief to the tune of Rs. 15000 per family per month. |
