Jammu, June 20: With temperature rising in Jammu, long power cuts and irregular water supply is adding woes among the residents as mercury soared to 44 degree Celsius. As the maximum temperature in the winter capital of the state has crossed 44 degree Celsius, the power and water requirement have al so increased drastically, which led to scarcity of water and power in the city. "Jammuites are face triple torture these days as in the scorching heat of 44 degree Celsius, irregular water supply and hide and seek of power supply has made the life worsen to worst," said Sahil Gupta, student. "Sometime I feel that we are living in a stone-age, where there is no electricity, we are begging for a bucket of water from others," he added. Anil Sharma, a resident of Janipur said, "When I woke up yesterday, the power was off, inverter was about to die and unfortunately hardly few buckets of water was left in the tank." "It was the longest day of my life, as we all were waiting for our transformer to get repaired, so that our life get back on the track, and it was restored on 11 at night," he added. The Power Development Department (PDD) says that most of the transformers are being overloaded due to raising temperature and getting damaged. A senior PDD officer said, "Due to raising temperature and overloading by the residents, we have some constrain in the power system." "I would like to appeal the residents of the city to kindly use the power judicially, so that we could provide electricity to everyone," he added. Meanwhile, the heat wave continues to grip Jammu, as the mercury soared to 44 degree Celsius again after few days of below normal temperature , making it another hottest day of the season and no sign of relief from the heat wave has been predicted by the Met department. |
