| Mandates would be denied to half of sitting BJP MLAs | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, July 3: Although the state unit of BJP is taking the coming Assembly elections so casually, the BJP high command is very serious to fight the coming elections to form its own Government in the only Muslim majority state of the country. BJP high command has directed local unit of the party to shun this casual approach and formulated a comprehensive policy to contest the coming Assembly elections seriously. Credible sources in the BJP said that high command has asked local leadership to assess performance of the all the sitting MLAs of the party so that a decision regarding fate of these MLAs should be taken. It is believed that half of the sitting BJP MLAs will be denied party mandate in the coming Assembly elections as high command has not received good feed back regarding performance of these MLAs. Credible sources said that BJP high command has bluntly told the local leadership that mandate would be given to only those persons who have clean image in the public. As far as the sitting MLAs are concerned, party high command has directed that some MLAs whose credentials are under cloud would not be considered for party mandate. Sources said that BJP high command is very particular to get maximum number of seats in the coming elections of Jammu and Kashmir so party want to give tickets to only those leaders who have clean image. The recent exposure of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah in which he had publicly exposed BJP MLAs for sacrificing interests of Jammu region for personal benefits has put the BJP on the defense. It was only after exposure of Chief Minister that BJP has decided to field only clean image candidates so that opponents could not exploit any issue against the party during the elections.
