| KP migrants, refugees pin hope on Modi's visit | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, July 3: Prime Minister, Narendra Modi's visit has generated hopes among Kashmiri migrants, West Pakistan refugees and Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (POK) refugees. These refugees and migrants are pinning hope on PM's visit that he might announce what has been pending since long, as per their aspirations. During the Lok Sabha election campaigning, Bharatiya Jantra Party (BJP) had rigorously called for special package to refugees, including west Pakistan and POK. Now, when BJP is enjoying majority in the Parliament and its Prime Minister, Narendra Modi is visiting the state, it is the high time for Government to fulfil their commitments. "We have been waiting since long. Our generations have suffered due to the anti-human approach of successive Governments, both at the Centre and in State. We hope that Modi bag is full of things which are acceptable to one and all," said Subash Kumar, a POK refugee. Similarly, the Kashmir migrants, mostly Kashmiri Pandits, who are living in exile for more than 25 years are waiting for home land. Though the State Government has refused any homeland demand but a positive thing came out on Wednesday, when State Cabinet approved that KPs will be rehabilitated in small clusters as per their wish. Now, it is up to the Central Government and especially Narendra Modi how he reacts to these demands on Friday when he flags off the train from Katra to Udhampur. This is the first and perhaps the last chance for BJP to get people of Jammu on their side by reacting to the demands of various refugees and migrants, who are living in different parts of Jammu. Meanwhile, people will also be eyeing on PM how he reacts to the demand of abrogation of Article 370, which was the main poll plank of BJP during elections. |
