Jammu, Aug 2: Teachers and masters who expected justice from the new Commissioner Secretary Education Deptt are astounded and taken aback by the manner in which the officer has tried to down play and negate their concerns of nepotism including undue promotions and choice postings for the chosen few. Maheshwar Parsad, Convener, All Jammu, Kashmir & Ladakh Teachers Federation (AJKLTF) shared the pain of his meeting with the Commissioner Secretary, Education Department, Nirmal Sharma. On August 1, a deputation of All J&K Ladakh Teachers Federation had called on Commissioner Secretary of School Education Department led by its President, Bhushan S Verma and convener, Maheshwar Prasad to highlight irregularities in the promotions and transfers at the hand of one Kewal Sharma, a powerful employee in the Education Department, but according to the Convener of the Federation, she averted the question saying: "Who is this Kewal Sharma? I hardly know any person with this name, and why you are creating hue and cry over this petty issue". The Convener of the federation told Early Times that the department is facing the worst ever time under these influential as a pick and choose policy in the adjustment of newly promoted Masters and Lecturers has been violating the transfer policy with impunity but everyone at the helm of affairs is mum over this. He further said that subject wise transfers are absent in the department and masters working in far-flung areas are languishing in the peripherals owing to lack of a check on the transfers and promotions. Among other issues highlighted by the Federation were irregular and untimely supplies of books, absence of earned leave to the teachers at par with teachers of neighbouring Himachal Pradesh and Punjab, vacant posts from Joint Director to IV Class which is adversely affecting the smooth functioning of the department and a check on the transfers and promotions of the teachers, masters and lecturers. |
