Conspiracy against Kashmiri Hindus, India
Kousarnag pilgrimage
8/3/2014 12:13:58 AM
Neha
JAMMU, Aug 2: The Kousarnag pilgrimage is Indian conspiracy to change the Muslim majority character through the medium of pilgrimages, says Syed Ali Shah Geelani. Kashmir is a Muslim State, he also says. India is following in the footsteps of Israel and has launched cultural aggression on Kashmir, he further says. The pilgrimage will destroy the Kashmir's ecology and pollute its environment, says the so-called Kashmiri civil society, which is an integral part of the ongoing movement in the Valley. The pilgrimage will also destroy the fragile ecology and pollute environment of Pir Panjal, it also says.
"The new controversy created about Kousarnag is a conspiracy to divide people of Jammu and Kashmir in the name of so-called religious journeys and Yatras," a spokesman in a statement quoting Yasin Malik says. "These new Yatras are not only politically motivated but will have a disastrous effect on already deteriorating ecology of Kashmir also," says Malik. These "religious aggressions" need strong resistance and JKLF has decided to support all the programs of 'Kousarnag Bachaw Campaign' started by the people of the area", he also says. What he and the likes of Geelani say mean emphatic no the Government's proposal on the rehabilitation of Kashmiri Hindus in the Kashmir valley.
"The pilgrimage is a move from some vested interests to disrupt the peace and order in Kashmir valley. Allow the yatra only from traditional Reasi route.
All those elements who are hell-bent to conduct the proposed Kousarnag yatra from South Kashmir route are the enemies of peace. At a time when Kashmir is limping back towards normalcy, the starting of this yatra will have serious repercussions and may prove major bottleneck in the efforts of creating and maintaining communal harmony and amity between different sections of people…State Government should not allow this yatra and before taking any decision it must take all the stake holder on board. The Kousarnag is a fresh water spring located in the climatically fragile environs of Kashmir valley. At a time when lot is said and written about the environmental hazards, the influx of humans to Kousarnag will prove disastrous…," says former interlocutor MM Ansari.
What is all this non-sense? How could they dare to outrage the sensitivities of the minority community of Kashmiri Hindus? It is the fundamental right of the Kashmiri Hindus to undertake yatra to Kousarnag, the Holy Lake, connected with God Vishno. How could they gather together in their thousands in certain places every week and how could they question the Kousarnag pilgrimage, which is an affair since time immemorial?
But these extremists in Kashmir say is not that important. What is disturbing is the anti-Hindu and pro-separatist attitude of state administration and the ruling NC and the Congress. They are not only supporting the extremists and their stand on the pilgrimage, which stands banned, but also sharing the views of anti-India and fundamentally sectarian elements like Shabnam Lone and Hamida Nayeem, a Kashmir University Professor. They are leaving none in any doubt that they are with Geelani and others of his ilk. As for the Congress, its Minister GA Mir said: "We had not given any permission to any yatra in Kousarnag area so the question of suspending it under separatists' pressure does not arise". "It is a mere rumour that any Yatra would take place at Kousarnag.
The Government has not issued any permission for the same. In actual, it is not traditional Yatra but only a Puja that used to take place near Kousarnag years ago," says a senior state Government official. It must remain a matter of shame that we have in the state an administration that brazenly hobnobs with fanatics.
