PATTAN, Aug 2: Suspected militants attacked a policeman with an axe before decamping with his rifle in Pattan town of Baramulla District in North Kashmir late Saturday. According to police official , an Indian Reserve Police (IRP) personnel was injured critically after he was assaulted with an axe before decamping with his service rifle. This is the second such incident of weapon snatching by suspected gunmen in the conflict-torn region in this week official said. A police official told that IRP man has been identified as Firdous Ahmad Baba( belt no 683) a constable with the Indian Reserve Police, who was posted at the main market in the North Kashmir town, was attacked by a group of militants with an axe. The militants managed to flee with the policeman's INSAS rifle. The official said that Baba has received serious head and neck injury as he was with hit with an axe in his head and neck and has been immediately shifted to nearby hospital where from he was shifted to Sheri Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) Soura Srinagar for specialized treatment.
