JAMMU, Aug 2: With in two months of its formation, cracks appeared in the cash rich Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) with Jammu wing locking horns with the central body over release of funds to continue with the activities ahead of the cricket season. However, the central body looked adamant not to give more funds unless the Jammu wing submits the accounts for already utilized funds. "Due to the paucity of funds, we had to close the first phase of camp on July 12. Now, we intend to initiate the second phase of Summer camp for the short listed boys in different age groups including women's category," furious over the authoritative attitude of the central body, joint secretary of Jammu Wing, Sudershan Mehta has said. In a denial mood, the central body, through a handout issued to the press on July 27, disclosed that the talent hunt camp organised by Jammu Division has already concluded and Rs four lakh said to have been spend on this. "Despite repeated demands, the accounts for this (Rs 4 lakh) expenditure have not been submitted by the joint secretary of Jammu Wing. Funds released for cricket activities have to be accounted for before more funds asked for," said general secretary of JKCA, M L Nehru. He further added saying, "Expenditures have to be authorized and meant for cricket development and not only for functions and shows. Persons spending JKCA funds have to undertake that expenditure is made only on genuine cricketing activities and with due approvals and sanctions". However, the Jammu wing wants its due share in the released function to the tune of Rs 3.5 crore vide order dated 10-06-2014 by the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Srinagar. "Simple allotment of funds is not the issue, but what matters is proper spending on genuine activities and proper account thereof. JKCA funds are meant for all cricketers of the state and not the office bearers to play with these on unauthorized activity," further said Nehru. Besides the funds, the Jammu wing also raised the issue of delay in nomination of selectors for various age groups. On this the general secretary said, "Selection cum trail camps for various age groups of Jammu Division shall be held shortly for which the selectors penal has already been notified. |
