Srinagar, Aug 3 : Pilgrimage to holy Amarnath cave shrine was going on smoothly from Baltal and Nunwan Pahalgam tracks though the number of yatris undertaking the yatra has come down now. So far about 3.62 lakh pilgrims have paid obeisance before the self made Ice-Shivlingam in the Kashmir Himalayas since the commencement of the 45-day-long annual yatra from June 28 from Baltal and July 2 from traditional route. A yatra official said that pilgrims, who had arrived at Baltal base camp from Jammu or air or by road yesterday, left for the holy cave shrine early this morning as the weather is pleasant. The pilgrims, who had night halt near holy cave after darshan yesterday, also started their return journey to Baltal this morning. They said fresh batch of pilgrims, including women and sadhus, also left Nunwan Pahalgam base camps early this morning for Chandanwari, the last motorable halting station on traditional route. Similarly pilgrims, who had night halt at other halting stations on the track also started journey towards the cave shrine this morning. However, pilgrims, who had night halt at Panjterni reached holy cave after covering the five-km-long track on foot early this morning. |
