Centre mulls fundamental policy shift to deal with separatists
8/4/2014 12:11:53 AM
New Delhi, Aug 3: The Centre is likely to act tough against separatists and their supporters shortly. The Centre has already informed the State government to take serious and tough actions against such people and forces. It is also likely to brief the top officials of the State about strategy to be adopted to rein in such anti-India forces.
"The separatists can't have their day all the time. They had long played their games and now are up again to their old games using Kousarnag yatra as a ploy. It's time to get them taste of the Modi government,' said a senior Home Ministry official, wishing not to be named.
Modi government had already shown its lack of interest in the so called 'Kashmir' issue. The government had already showed its intent by putting premium at Jammu and Ladakh regions in the Budget and not giving much importance to the Kashmir region, a position it enjoyed till now.
The Centre had hardened its stand more after the recent development in the Kashmir, which were aimed at stalling the yatra and also causing disturbance in the ongoing Amarnath yatra. The Centre feels, and has got inputs also, that these developments were created and crafted by the separatists, on the directions of their handlers across the border, to stall the Modi government project of return of the Kashmiri Pandits to the valley.
The Centre is making careful and calculated plan for the return of the KP. It's devising the plan in a manner that before their return the Separatists are silenced and the air of radicalism that has suffused Kashmir valley is taken out and fresh liberal secular air is allowed to sway in.
"Till now separatists and their ilk were having their way with the weak Centre and weak Prime Minister. They had it for full 10-yr. They had tried to break the ice with the Modi but didn't have their way. Now, it's time they are played back on their turf by Modi's government," said the senior intelligence agency official, based in N Delhi.
