"Faithfulls" back Azad-Soz for Lal Singh's expulsion | | | Early Times Report Udhampur, Aug 3: In what could be perceived as a major political development, two warring groups of Congress party on Saturday posed a united face while vociferously demanding expulsion of former Member Parliament (MP) Chowdhary Lal Singh for his anti-party activities. Setting aside their difference of opinion on several issues, both of the supporters of Congress stalwart and Leader of the Opposition Ghulam Nabi Azad as well as Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Saif-ud-Din-Soz, during the day long convention of District Congress Committees of Udhampur and Reasi, yesterday, criticized former MP and senior Congress leader Chowdhary Lal Singh and raised their demand before Azad and Soz and described Chowdhary Lal Singh as opportunist. "If party has to yield fruitful results in coming Assembly elections, party high command must take hard decisions against people like Chowdhary Lal Singh, who openly campaigned against party candidate in the recently held general elections. Why no action has been taken against him till date?," voiced PCC secretary, Narinder Sharma. Sharma owes his allegiance with former Union Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad. Insiders in Congress party disclosed to Early Times that during the closed door convention, even the supporters of Soz group stood and demanded strict action against ex-MP, Chowdhary Lal Singh and that too without any further delay. "There is deep resentment brewing up among the party workers as Chowdhary Lal Singh is openly in touch with PDP and BJP leadership. It is also an open fact that he worked against party candidate. Everyone knows that every day in and day out, he is hurling abuse against party leaders. It is also an open fact, that few months before the commencement of general elections, Lal Singh used to abuse Narendra Modi and other BJP leaders. And now, he is trying hard and manipulating the situation to ensure he sits in the lap of same Narendra Modi. Why Congress high command is silent?," another PCC leader Ashwini Puri sought to know from senior party leaders. Former Minister and sitting MLC, Jugal Kishore too demanded that "such leaders who exploit the situation for their vested interests must not be spared and immediate action be taken against such people." Another leader of District Congress Committee (DCC), Udhampur, Ashwini Sharma, who was earlier considered to be close confidant of Chowdhary Lal Singh, too opened his account against the rebellious leader and explained before senior party leaders how Lal Singh attempted and propagated against party candidate during the Parliamentary elections. "Party must take action and then we will wait and see how Chowdhary Lal Singh plays his tricks either before PDP or BJP leadership. We are eager to see, how PDP or BJP accepts Singh, who once used to lambast them at every political occasion. He has many a times during Congress rallies described BJP as party who sold interests of Jammu region while criticizing and Kashmir based political parties as holding step-motherly approach with Jammu region," pointed out another PCC Secretary. |
