| People allege misappropriation of funds in non-functional Lift Irrigation schemes | | | Early Times Report
KATHUA, Aug 3: Alleging embezzlement in funds allocated for three Lift Irrigation schemes, the people of Panchayats Pallan, Dramani and Dadwada in Billawar constituency expressed their anguish against Irrigation Department and local MLA for their failure to make the projects functional. Sarpanch of Panchayat Pallan, Akhtar Ali alleged that three lift irrigation projects were started in Pallan, Dramani and Dadwada with an aim to provide drinking water facilities and to extend irrigational facilities to the farmers of the area but sorry to say the concerned department of Irrigation has failed to complete the task within set time frame.
Ali further said that even MLA of the area failed to direct the Irrigation department to complete the projects. After the inauguration of these Lift Irrigation projects MLA and Minister Dr Manohar Lal as well as department officials never come to take stock of the project with the result the work was abandoned, he added. Ali alleged that the department officials have misappropriated the huge funds which were meant for these projects in which MLA also played a key role. |
