| Srinagar, Aug 3 : Life returned to normal today in the Kashmir valley, where a general strike was observed in protest against the alleged move to open Kousar Nag new pilgrimage destination in south Kashmir.Restrictions under Section 144 CrPC imposed in the Shehar-e-Khas (SeK) and down town city yesterday morning have been lifted. The strike call was given by the breakaway Hurriyat Conference (HC), alleging that it was a conspiracy to damage the enviornment and water body (Kousar Nag).Shops and business establishments, which remained open on Sunday, were functioning normally today. Traffic on all routes was plying normally. The educational institutions will also reopen tomorrow after summer vacation. The famous Sunday Market also attracts customers since this morning. Hundreds of vendors have set up their stalls on the market from Tourist Reception Centre (TRC) to Hari Singh High Street (HSHS), including historic Lal Chowk, the nerve centre of the summer capital, selling from a simple needle to carpets. Life was also normal in the down town SeK, where people remained confined in their homes yesterday due to restrictions. Reports of normalcy were also reported from other parts of the valley. |
