Kishtwar, Aug 2: 10+2 Contractual Lecturers Association District Kishtwar has appealed state government to concede their long pending demands including enhancement of honorarium. According to press release, a meeting was held under the chairmanship of Amjad Hussain Sheikh, and was attended by more than thirty contractual lecturers. The Association members demanded enhancement of the pay/ honorarium from Rs. 7000/ per month to at least Rs. 20,000. It was also demanded that the contractual lecturers be covered under the J&K Special Provision Act under which the contractual working under academic arrangement be made eligible for regularization after completing the seven years of services. Association in its press note appealed state cabinet to give nod to the amendment in the J&K Special Provision Act and SRO 255 accordingly. Association has also come up with the demand of providing exemption to contractual lecturers in the screening test to be conducted by the SSRB and PSC for the posts of Teachers and Lecturers for School Education Department. Meeting ended up with the pledge of the Association members that if their demands genuine in nature are not addressed by the government in a fortnight, the Association may take the way of agitation in the form of Bands/ Hartals for redresal of their grievances against the government.
