Valley preferred 313 petitions in SHRC since 2012
Jammu registered 173 cases, Ladakh nil

Jammu, Aug 8 : Kashmir region is way ahead in registering cases with State Human Rights Commission (SHRC) since its inception in 1997 and total number of cases instituted from its inception is 6697 of which 5098 cases have been disposed off.
As per the annual report 2012-2013 of JK State Human Rights Commission, total number of cases instituted from April 2012-March 2013 is 486 and so far 188 cases have been disposed off. Kashmir region registered 313 and Jammu 173 and Ladakh region registered nil. The cases include custodial deaths 3 in Jammu and 2 in Kashmir.
Kashmir registered 8 rape cases followed by Jammu with 7 and Leh Ladakh with zero. As far as harassment cases are concerned Jammu leads with 67 cases and Kashmir stops at 45 number of cases instituted with state human rights commission.
Kashmir registered 32 cases disappearances and Jammu only 3 and Ladakh none. As far as ex-gratia cases are concerned Jammu registered only 9 cases while Kashmir sought relief in 22 cases.
There are other cases also like land case, murder, death investigation, security cover, inquiry, kidnapping, eviction, pension cases, rent cases, service matter, compassionate appointment and others which are registered with SHRC but here also Ladakh is nowhere in picture. The annual report of the commission 2012-2013 shows 486 complaints received of which 188 cases were disposed off. The commission took within its means all possible effective steps to expedite the disposal of the cases and more important cases including traffic management, coaching centre muddle, pepper gas issue, custodial killings, unsafe food spices, rights of jail inmates, killing of civilians, carnivorous stray dogs, Gahran killings, faulty electric lines domestic violence, Amarnath land row, militancy consequence and many more. Kashmir remains high in registering cases with SHRC followed by Jammu and again Ladakh remains untouched.
