Violent clashes in Kreeri after Police officer slaps 2 school officials

BARAMULLA, Aug 8: Violent clashes between protesters and government forces broke out when two senior government school officials were abused and slapped by a senior police officer in Kreeri Thesil of district Baramulla in north Kashmir on Friday.
Eyewitness told early times that the vice-principal of Government Higher Secondary school Kreeri, Tanveer Ahmad and Basharat Ahmad were thrashed and abused by senior officer of Special Operation Group (SOG) of Kreeri camp on the wee hours of Friday. The Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) (operations) Amir Iqbal entered into school premises at around 9:15 am along with a dozen of his men. "The officer told Basharat Ahmad, an Urdu Lecturer that, stones are coming from the school. "This fumed up the officer and he abused Basharat and beaten him to pulp. He not only slapped him without any reason but also abused him during this scuffle vice president interfered into the matter, when he asked the officer why he is beating him, officer also thrashed him and said I will show you how the officers are eyewitness said. Early Times spoke to Vice Principal of the school Tanveer Ahmad he said that "in the wee hours SOG personnel's entered into school premises and thrashed one of the lecturer namely Basharat Ahmad and when i tried to save Urdu lecturer from officer's 'wrath' who was in a civil dress "But the officer abused and slapped me for none of my fault.But the Lecturer denied and said no one from the school pelted stones," he said that they have lodged a complaint with police and demanded stern action against the officer The Vice-Principal said. Teacher's forum district president and senior EJAC leader Mohammad Rafiq has condemned the act and demanded a stern action against the SOG officer of Kreeri camp. However Director School Education Mir Tariq Ali has directed the Chief Education Officer Baramulla to look into the matter and has spoke to CEO to take up the matter with SSP Baramulla Suhail Munawer. Meanwhile Station House Officer (SHO) Kreeri Ghulam Nabi said that he is trying to motivate the students and has asked the school authorities to come up with a written compliant so that any action is taken against the erring SOG officials. The top police said that we have ordered probe into the incident. "We have started investigations into the matter and Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Manzoor Ahmad has been appointed as enquiry officer," Just now a lady Shameema Begam wife of Sonaullah Sofi got fainted when SOG men fired tear gas shell into their house. It is worth to mention that Kreeri and Palhallan remained shut from last two days after Palhallan youth's body was recovered from Suryaipora locality of Kreeri. Heavy stone pelting and teargas shelling is going on in Kreeri till last reports came.
