NPP files writ petition seeking rescue, relief to flood victims | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Oct 5: Jammu and Kashmir National Panther Party (JKNPP) has filed a writ petition under Article 32 of Constitution of India seeking immediate remedies for the rescue of the stranded people in different parts of the state and relief and their rehabilitation. The Supreme Court of India constituted 5 Members Committee to monitor the distribution of the relief etc. This direction was given by the SC on the request of Prof. Bhim Singh. Earlier, SC has directed the State and Union of India to setup a joint command to look for immediate operations to rescue the stranded people, provide them immediate relief and work a plan for their permanent rehabilitation. The two governments did not comply with this order. The government of Jammu and Kashmir filed a reply in the SC giving the so called factual position on ten districts of Kashmir Valley only. The Panthers Party filed rejoinder affidavit giving details of the loss and damages caused by the flood havoc between 2 Sept. and 9th September. The horror of the natural disaster caused in village Sadal, Tehsil Udhampur, the tragic death of 52 local residents (passengers) in Laam/Nowshera on 4th Sept. 2014 did not find a mentioning by the state government. Nor the state government mentioned the loss of lives, damages caused to the crops of the farmers or loss of cattle etc in Poonch, Rajouri, Reasi, Udhampur, Kathua, Ramban, Doda and Kishtwar. |
