| Sports Council's Green Field turns into private academy of vested interests | | Sports officer ignores Minister's direction | | Shiv Dev Thakur
Jammu, Oct 5: With playing facilities in the rapidly expanding Jammu shrinking thick and fast, the premier playing facility of J&K State Sports Council at Green Field in posh Gandhinagar locality is being used by a group of private people for making big money by running a private coaching centre unauthorizedly. The worst part of the story is that the Sports officer Jammu is aware of things and has chosen to turn a nelson's eye to misappropriation for mysterious reasons.
Sources disclose that a group of three people who pretend to be close to the Minister for Sports and MLA Gandhinagar Raman Bhalla are openly charging Rs. One thousand from each of the young cricketers coming to the Green Field in open violation of norms and propriety and a senior coach deputed there has been reduced to a mute spectator thanks to the criminal silence of Council authorities. "I pay one thousand rupees a month for the training of my son to one Sachin, who is a coach here" said a parent, oblivious of the fact that the person charging money is a neither a coach, nor an employee of the Council and is running a private academy in violation of norms. Sources also disclosed that the said person flaunts his proximity with the Minister in extending his illegal business at a Government facility.
Senior SAI Coach, Varinder Sharma, who has been officially posted at the Green field cricket training centre when contacted, disclosed that he was posted to that centre recently and on finding the illegality going on there brought the matter to the notice of the Sports officer Jammu Rajan Sharma, but no action has been taken against the defaulters. "I have apprised the SO in written, but no action has yet been taken" said Sharma.
Sources also divulge that the action against the defaulters is being deferred by the Sports Officer despite the instructions of the Minister for Sports Raman Bhalla. "Minister had categorically told the Council authorities to immediately oust the private people running the commercial business at the Green Field and hand over the Centre to the authorized Coach, but astoundingly, the SO Jammu, Rajan Sharma has chosen to ignore even the verbal directions of the Minister for mysterious reasons.
Meanwhile, when contacted, Sports officer Jammu Rajan Sharma feigned ignorance over the entire issue. "I have no idea about it. Provide me the evidence if you have any" Rajan Sharma said, inferring that there is more than meets the eye. |
