Jammu, Oct 5 : A month has passed since floods caused massive devastation across the state but the things are not getting back to normal especially in Kashmir province which has faced the worst kind of nature's fury.
And with phones and the internet out of order, the rumor mill has a toll on the psychology of the sufferers.
Educated or illiterates, poor or rich, politicians or beaurcrats, everyone seems interested in giving ear to rumours.
Talking to Early Times, Mohammad Asad, a shopkeeper in Lal Chowk said that the rumors play havoc in these circumstances and added salt to the wounds.
I came to know that after floods now earthquake of high magnitude will struck the valley.
Some say these floods were just a trailer and the picture is yet to come. He further said that such rumors cause more problems and people without knowing the facts start believing as I myself became victim of these rumors.
A government employee, Farooq Ahmed said that he got a video from some friend which shows Rajouri bus video which I circulated to my other friends, but later I came to know that this video is actually of Assam in year 2012 and some mischief elements create more problems to the people. People actually starting believing and gossiping on the issue without ascertaining the facts and mostly educated persons and ladies are first who start believing and gossiping on this. The women folk are more vulnerable to these rumors and start debating on this. Some says government is compensating every flood victims which actually is not true.
Some rumour mongers say that government will give all money to those whose vehicle is damaged but actually government and High Court only gave directions to insurance companies to speed up the claim processes. The people should not give ears to these rumors and that too without ascertaining the facts, it not only cause problems physically but mentally also.
