Vikramaditya expresses concern over border skirmishes, calls for relief to affected families | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Oct 5: Expressing his serious concern over truce violation incidences on the Line of Control (LoC) and International Border (IB) during the last 48 hours in different areas of Jammu region, senior leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Vikramaditya Singh today emphasized on the need of maintaining spirit of the ceasefire at any cost for the interests of the common masses. Vikramaditya Singh said that instead of reacting to the kneejerk manner, governments of both India and Pakistan should take some concrete step to restore lasting and sustainable peace on the borders because further escalation of hostility on the borders was not in the interests of the common masses living on both sides of the LoC and IB. In a statement issued here today, Vikramaditya asked the authorities to immediately provide relief to the families affected by the firing from across the border in different areas of Jammu region. "The situation necessitate that instead of indulging into provocative utterance there was need that some effective steps should be taken to prevent another era of turmoil and destruction in border belt", he said. He recalled how residents of border areas had faced worst situation during hostility between India and Pakistan before announcement of cease-fire on the borders in the year 2003. |
