10/26/2014 10:33:37 PM
Early Times Report

RAJOURI, Oct 26: Despite tall claims by the district administration that free ration, as announced by the state government for the flash flood victims, has been distributed for the months of September and October among the flood victims, many such victims have been holding demonstrations daily before the office of DDC alleging mismanagement in the distribution.
These beneficiaries have been claiming that the officials engaged in preparing lists of flash flood victims have added the names of some blue eyed families. "The names of the actual beneficiaries are missing from the lists which have been provided to the private ration depot holders and when they approach for free rations, they are denied the same," said Sadiq and Madan lal.
In this connection, some actual beneficiaries even held protest at Sunderbani. They alleged that due to mismanagement by the revenue officials, actual beneficiaries are denied free ration while those who were not the victims of flash flood/ landslides. "Mismanagement on part of officials engaged in preparing lists has created confusion and actual victims are being denied free ration "said Rakesh and Madan Lal.
Demonstrators were carrying authority slips issued to them by the authorities but their names were missing from the lists provided to the government ration dealers and both beneficiaries as well as ration dealers are facing many problems. These protestors warned the authorities to streamline the system immediately otherwise they will launch a large scale protest demonstration.
They also appealed to send their names to the concerned ration dealers so that they can get free ration for the last two months and in the future. While talking to the reporters, Deputy Commissioner Jatinder Singh said that free ration has already been distributed among beneficiaries. "Why the free ration not reached to the victims, the matter will be investigated and discussed with the concerned officials" said DC.
