Weather improves in Kashmir, minus 2 in Leh | | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, Oct 26 : Leh in Ladakh region continued to shiver as the minimum temperature recorded was minus 1.9 degree. However, the weather has witnessed some improvement though cold winds continued in the Kashmir valley, where Gulmarg was coldest with 0.5 degree minimum temperature. A Met department spokesman said here this afternoon that weather will be mainly dry over Jammu and Kashmir during the next 24 hours. However, there could be isolated to scattered rain or thundershowers on October 29. People in Leh continued to shiver as the minimum temperature remained minus 1.9 degree while at Kargil, a border town on Srinagar-Leh national highway, which was still through, the night temperature was 0.6 degree. Met spokesman said the sky would be clear and the maximum and minimum temperatures would be about 12 degree and minus 2 degree during the next 24 hours. The sun, relatively warm today as compared to past three days, was again playing hide and seek in the Kashmir valley with icy cold winds also continuing in the region. World famous ski resort of Gulmarg was coldest in the valley with 0.5 degree minimum temperature, 2.5 degree below normal followed by famed health resort of Pahalgam 1.5 degree, half a notch below normal. Qazigund, gateway of Kashmir on Srinagar-Jammu national highway and Kokernag in south Kashmir recorded one degree below normal minimum temperature. However, it was half a degree above normal in Kupwara, a border district in north Kashmir. After witnessing two degree below normal maximum temperature yesterday, the maximum temperature was up by two notches in the summer capital, Srinagar. Met spokesman said the sky will be clear and the maximum and minimum temperatures would be about 20 degree and 5 degree respectively during the next 24 hours.
