10/26/2014 11:34:56 PM
Rajouri, Oct 26 : People living near Industrial Complex, district hospital, Kheora, government PG College and other localities between Deputy Commissioner office-Darhali have been seeking repairs of the roads for last couple of years, but no heed has been paid to their pressing concerns.
Failing to get any response from the authorities, hundreds of people held a protest demonstration against the concerned authorities near PG college and warned the administration /concerned authorities to look into the matter or face stiff protest demonstration. The road stretches between DC office to Kahndli bridge and DC office to PG college are in nasty condition and hundreds of students, office goers, patients and their attendants who visit district hospital fac problems due to dust, potholes and water logging. The road that leads towards Darhal via PG college was constructed and black topped about two years ago under Prime Minister Grameen Sarak Yojna (PMGSY) and the contractor was responsible for its maintenance. "But the contractor as well as the official concerned of PNGSY project are in deep slumber despite several protest and representations and the condition of the road becoming worst day by day" said Mushtaq Bhat who led the demonstrators.
Principal, PG college also said that the road lead towards PG college is in a worst condition and after every step the potholes filled with filthy water creating many problems for the students as well as the pedestrians."It is not easy to drive a four wheeler/two wheeler on this road. Even the vehicles suffer many problems due to potholes and uneven road" said Mohd Farooq a student.Principal PG college said that students have been complaining about the dilapidated condition of the road and they may observe violent protest in the future. To avoid any such situation the administration must get the road repaired as soon as possible. The stretch between DDC office towards Darhali Bridge (Rajouri-Thanamndi-Bafliaz ) is under the control of GREF. The widening work as well as drains and retaining walls work was completed by the GREF authorities about 6 months ago . "As flow of water from drains is frequent and can't be stopped on this stretch, so it was decided to make this stretch cemented instead black topping. The work was to be started from Darhali bridge side in the month of September but it was delayed due to recent damage to defense roads caused due to flash floods and landslides" said a GREF officer.
