Army's cement supply diverted for pilferage, one held | | | Jammu, Oct 26 : Busting a cement scam, police today seized a truck at Pouni in Domana area and seized 180 bags of branded cement being dispatched to Leh for construction by an engineering wing of army .Acting on a tip-off that some persons at Pouni were pilfering cement loaded in a truck (JK02AH/1369), a Domana police party raided the spot and found that cement from each branded cement bag was being taken out and then filled in empty bags of local cement. The cops then seized the truck along with 186 cements bags . Driver Jagjeet Singh son of Santokh Singh of Ajjet Colony was arrested and taken to Domana police station, the sources added. Sources said an iron instrument used for puncturing holes in the cement bags was also seized. The cement bags had been loaded from Pathankote in the truck by an engineering wing of army, for their delivery at Leh .However, instead of transporting the cement to Leh , he took it to Pouni for pilferage, sources said. A case was registered against the accused at Domana police station under section 406,109 of RPC. Further investigation was in progress. The catch was made by ICPP Pouni Chak Vikram Manhas, SDPO Domana Sanjay Parihar supervised by SP Rural Mohan Lal Kaith. |
