Awareness camp for deaf and dumb organized | | | Early Times Report
Doda, Nov 3: In its ongoing efforts to target every section of the population and create voter awareness among them, the District Administration Doda headed by District Election Officer (Deputy Commissioner) Doda Shyam Vinod Meena organized a special Systematic Voter Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) awareness camp for special voter's (deaf and dumb and Scheduled Tribes voters) population at remote Village Dhadkie in Gandoh area. The camp which was organized by collaborative efforts of the Rural Development Department, Social Welfare Department, Education Department and Revenue Department witnessed the participation of large number of voters especially differently abled voters. In the camp the awareness to deaf and dumb was imparted through sign language teacher Jan Mohammad. District Social Welfare Officer Gias -ul-Haq who is master trainer EVMs demonstrated the process of voting using EVMs which was translated by the sign language teacher for the understanding of deaf and dumb voters of the area. While addressing the gathering in their local Gojri language to make them more understandable, District Election Officer Doda SV Meena apprised them that there is right to vote to every electors and asked them to cast their valuable vote in their respective polling stations. DEO also distributed invitation cards among the voters and appealed them to vote on 25th of November 2014. The participants also pledged to vote in the upcoming elections, besides pledge letters were also distributed among them. The voters expressed great enthusiasm when the DEO addressed them in their local language and assured to come out and vote in the coming assembly elections . |
