Joint Security Group Conference held at Rajouri | | | Early Times Report
Rajouri, Nov 3: Keeping in view the Assembly elections scheduled to be held in the month of December in Rajouri-Poonch districts, a meeting of Joint Security Group was held at the head quarters of Romeo Force today. The Joint Security Group Conference (JSGC) was chaired by Maj Gen PS Rajeshwar, GOC, Romeo Force and besides other senior officers from all the security forces and intelligence agencies, Jitender K Singh, DC Rajouri, MH Malik DC Poonch, Dr Haseeb Mughal, SSP Rajouri were also present in the meeting. Prevailing security situation in both the frontier districts of Poonch and Rajouri was also discussed in the meeting and views were shared to chalk out a joint strategy to keep the twin districts free of any untoward incidents in view of Assembly elections. The role of various agencies and high level synergy exhibited by all the agencies in recent times was appreciated by the senior officials including GOC and it was decided to ensure also the forthcoming Assembly elections incident free. GOC encouraged all present to overcome contemporary challenges and work towards enhancing confidence amongst the people and be vigilant, alive and responsive to the developing situation to maintain peace and ensure a peaceful and conducive environment. SSP Rajouri briefed the gathering on the prevailing internal security situation and steps initiated to ensure communal harmony in the region. Both the Deputy Commissioners appreciated the close coordination being maintained between the security forces, civil administration and the police. GOC thanked everyone for their valuable contribution and assured the participants of the continued commitment of the Army towards ensuring peace and harmony in the twin districts of Rajouri and Poonch. |
