"Matdaan Mahotsav" launched in 5 Assembly segments

Kathua, Nov 3: Electoral awareness campaign phase-II under systematic voters' education and electoral participation was launched in all 5 Assembly Segments of Kathua, Hiranagar, Basohli, Bani and Billawar. Main function was held at Marheen where more than 3000 participated and pledged for greater participation in the Assembly Elections.
A number of awareness shows and skits on ethical voting were presented amidst thunderous applause from audience. District Election Officer (Deputy Commissioner) Kathua chaired the proceedings of launching ceremony at Marheen where an impressive function was organised by Returning Officer 66-Hiranagar segment Suraj Parkash Rukwal assisted by SDM Hiranagar Sohan Lal, DFO Vijay Verma, CDPO Hiranagar, Tehsildars Manzoor Ahmed and Meenakshi, BDOs Vipin Bhagat and Chaman Lal Gandi. CEO Lakhanpur Development Authority Dr Baharat Bhushan and officers from Social Welfare, Health, Revenue, Rural Development and ICDS attended the meeting in which thousands of voters and prospective voters participated. SVEEP campaign "Matdaan Mahotsav" has been launched in the district with a number of specialized campaigns and events for various sections of voters in different areas. More than 4,30,000 voters are registered in 5 assembly segments and district administration has taken up a
series of initiatives for electoral literacy, awareness about ethical informed voting and greater participation. The DEO appealed the people of border areas for greater participation in assembly elections and also elaborated the detailed plan formulated for more than 40 polling stations along the international border. As many as 35 Model Polling Stations are planned in Hiranagar Assembly Segment.
He appreciated efforts of Polling Booth Area teams for reaching out to every household and voter for electoral awareness, enrollment and eliciting participation.
Meanwhile, two different functions on electoral awareness were organized in Billawar in Government Degree College Billawar and Tehsil premises; a rally of voters and volunteers was also organised. SDM Billawar R S Charak and Tehsildar Dr Manmeet Kumar organised the awareness programmes and rallies. A human chain on SVEEP was also organised on the occasion.
