Removed in copying case, Prof Darshana re-designated programme coordinator JU favours tainted 12/2/2014 10:12:00 PM Avinash Azad Early Times Report Jammu, Dec 2: Yet in another instance of favoritism in University of Jammu, the acting Vice Chancellor Prof. R D Sharma has re-designated Dr Darshana Sharma as Programme coordinator for M. Ed at DDE, notwithstanding the fact that she was removed from the same post for her alleged involvement in copying during M Ed test, 2013. Sources in University told Early Times that following a case of copying in Directorate of Distance Education, the then programme coordinator M. Ed DDE was removed from the post by JU administration, but Prof RD Sharma few days after he took over as acting VC re-designated the tainted Professor even as services of contractual Lecturer Dr Nasreen whose name figured in the same case were terminated. "On July 27, 2013 one Mohd Iqbal M. Ed. Second Semester student was founded copying during his inter assessment test. Subsequently, the JU authorities constituted a committee to inquire the matter", sources said, adding that the four member committee also removed Dr Darshana from the post of programme coordinator. "Inquiry committee comprising of Dean Academic Affairs, Controller Examination, Dean Faculty of Education and Prof Kulwant recommended non-renewal of services of Dr Nasreen, debarred the student for two years from appearing in examination", the sources claimed. "We conducted internal assessment test for failed M. Ed. student Mohd Iqbal Dr Nasreen had told the committee in her statement, and added that she was forced by the coordinator to favour the candidate for reasons best known to her (Coordinator)", sources claimed. They further said that favoring their colleague (Dr Darshana), the committee members punished only contractual Lecturer Dr Nasreen. "On October 3, 2013 the inquiry committee submitted its report to the then Vice Chancellor, Dr MPS Ishar putting whole responsibility on terminated lecturer", they said. They further said that Dr Darshana would be conducting Personal Contact Programme (PCP) M.
