Participate actively in institution building: CUK-VC to alumni | | | Early Times Report SRINAGAR, Dec 2: The Central University of Kashmir (CUK) Officiating Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Mehraj-ud-Din today sought active participation of the alumni in the holistic and overall development of the varsity. "The alumni have to play a crucial and a pivotal role in the institution building," Prof. Mehraj-ud-Din, said while addressing the first Alumni Meet organized by the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of the University. He said the University needs the valuable suggestions, involvement and active support of the alumni for its growth. Prof. Mehraj-ud-Din also underscored the role of the alumni in making the universities getting top ranks across the world. Officiating Vice-Chancellor also highlighted and appreciated the role played by the founder Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Abdul Wahid and Registrar, Dr. Abdul Gani in the progress made by the institution. He also announced slew of measures including providing of library facilities to the pass out students. All the Deans, Heads and coordinators of various departments, Registrar, Controller of examination and Finance Officer, DSW and other teaching and administrative staff were also present on the occasion. Registrar CUK, Prof. M Afzal Zargar, said the job of the University was to inculcate the values and morals among the students and the alumni was duty bound to transfer it in the society. "The inputs from the alumni are the valuable ingredients for the progress, growth and future development of the university. The alumni are also supposed to remain in contact with the Alma Mater through different means and repay after they reach to some level or to the top echelons of power," Prof. Afzal Zargar said. He also sought the suggestions of the alumni for improving the syllabi and on other issues. Dean School of Management, Prof. Abdul Gani, Dean School of Education and Programme Coordinator, Prof. N A Nadeem and Controller of Examination, Dr. N A Gilkar, also spoke about the importance of alumni association. DSW Officer, Dr. Fayaz A Nikka presented the vote of thanks while as Asst Prof. Department of Tourism Studies, Faizan conducted the programme proceedings. Former Head and Dean Faculty of Law Jammu University, Prof. K L Bhatia also offered to donate the books to CUK on the occasion. Later the participants elected an adhoc body of the Alumni Association with Mudasir Ahmad Sheikh designated as In-Charge President and Ms Khair Un NIssa and Sajjad Rashid as I/C Vice-Presidents. Syed Quarat and Safvat Zargar were nominated as I/C General Secretaries, while as Sartaj Ahmad Rather was appointed as I/C Treasurer. |
