Jammu, Dec 2 : Red Ribbon Club of Government College for Women, Parade, Jammu in collaboration with the Jammu and Kashmir State AIDS Prevention and Control Society, Department of Health and Medical Education organized AIDS Awareness Week to provide an opportunity to get young generation to think about how we can stop the spread of HIV, reduce its impact and overcome HIV discrimination.
During the week a series of events such as poster making and slogan competition, extension lecture on HIV/AIDS, intervention for adolescent girls and women in rural areas, seminars etc were hosted to raise awareness of HIV/AIDS.
AIDS Awareness Week commenced with a special programme in which Principal of College, Dr Hemla Aggrawal was the chief guest. The programme started with lighting of Red candles to honor the memory of those who have lost their lives to HIV/AIDS. The students of Red Ribbon Club released Red balloons and distributed Red Ribbons among students and performed a Nukad Natak to sensitise the girls about HIV/AIDS. A special blood donation awareness lecture was delivered by the Doctors from the Department of Blood Bank in collaboration with HDFC Bank. |
