New Delhi, Dec 2 : Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), MoS in PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances & Pensions, Space & Atomic Energy, Dr Jitendra Singh today called a meeting of all the 39 Members of Parliament (MPS0 from the eight North-Eastern States on December 19. The date was decided by the convenience of MPs who are presently in Delhi on account of the ongoing session of Parliament which concludes aroundDecember 23. In a letter addressed individually to each of the North-East MPs belonging to different political parties, Dr Jitendra Singh said that he earnestly looks forward to seek the cooperation and inputs from the MPs hailing from the region for a smooth, result oriented and meaningful functioning of the DoNER Ministry. In a bid to ensure greater involvement of the people's representatives in decision-making, Dr Jitendra Singh has also requested each of the North-East MPs to submit their preference and priority for the ongoing as well as prospective projects in the region. Dr Singh said, development of North-East is high on the agenda of the BJP led Government as well as of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and added that future thrust will be on improving road and rail connectivity, developing trade potential, generating jobs for youth and innovative initiatives seeking to bridge the diversity between eastern part of India and the rest of the country. Pertinent to mention that only yesterday, Prime Minister Nare-ndra Modi concluded his highly successful visit to North-East where he announced some major new initiatives for the region. |
