JAMMU, Dec 2: Amidst shouting of slogans and beating of dhols, Minister for Housing, Culture and Horticulture Raman Bhalla filed his nomination from Gandhi Nagar Assembly Constituency, as a candidate of the Congress party before the Returning Officer at Gandhi Nagar. Minister was accompanied by his wife Indira Bhalla, Sarpanch Amrit Bali, Ex-Corporator Satish Sharma, Sarpanch Kashmir Singh, Sarpanch Aya Singh, Ex-Corporator Jai Singh, Ex-Corporator Kamal Singh, Ex-Corporator Chowdhary Dwarka, Ex-Corporator Jaswant Singh Sudan, Naib Sarpanch Hafiz, Ex-Corporator Parveen Singh, Ex-Corporator Tilak Raj Gupta . A procession was taken out, which started from the house of Minister towards Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS) at Gandhi Nagar. Thousands of people and Congress party workers and supporters on cars, motorcycles, horses and elephants participated in the procession and raised slogans in favour of the Congress party and Bhalla. After filing the nomination papers, Minister addressed the gathering and stated that said that the manifesto released by the Congress recently clearly reiterated party's commitments towards peace, prosperity and progress of the State. "The 16-points manifesto released by the Congress including creation of fully empowered regional councils, delimitation of the Assembly constituencies, three tier Panchayati Raj, flood-relief work in State besides reservation for the people living along IB and rehabilitation of the border firing victims of Jammu region in safer zones reiterates that the Congress will once again revive the paradigm of all-round and equitable development of all the three regions of the State, if people repose trust in us", the Minister stated. Bhalla added that construction of fly over at Vikram Chowk, 6 laning of Satwari to Kunjwani road, modern facilities at cremation grounds, upgradation of schools, opening of new playing fields and Public Health Centres (PHCs) and installation of over two dozen tube-wells are some of the works done during his tenure. |
