Early Times Report

Rajouri, Jan 16: In a unique way of protest demonstration, the inhabitants of Manyalgali under the jurisdiction of Thanamndi police satiation removed the heavy damaged electric transformer and put it on Rajouri-Poonch road to show their resentment against the erring officials of PDD.
The Inhabitants of the area alleged that the transformer feeding more than 250 families got damaged about two months back and the matter was several times brought into the notice of concerned field staff and junior Engineer.
During last two months no action was taken by the concerned officials and instead mitigating their problems they misbehaved with the panchyat members as well as with the locals.
"One of the staff member once collected Rs 100 from each family after assuring them that PDD staff will get the transformer repaired soon. But after passing of several days people found that they were cheated by the field staff" said Mohd Akbar, Shadi Khan and others.
Showing their resentment people removed the transformer from the village and kept it at the middle of Rajouri-Poonch road on Thursday and blocked the road for more than three hours. They also raised slogans against the Deputy Commissioner, Executive Engineer, AEE and other concerned officials and demanded immediate action against the concerned JE and field staff.
On getting information of protest demonstration Dr Abdul Kabir, Tehsildar along with staff rushed to the spot and after talking to the protesters he contacted concerned Executive Engineer who ensured him that within three days new transformer will be installed in the village.
On the assurance of the Tehsildar people withdraw the protest demonstration but appealed to the Governor to take astringent action against such officials who have not been cooperating with the people in mitigating their problems.
