IMFA remains JU's illegitimate child Institute has no Principal for 10 months; in-charge Principal has no time 1/17/2015 11:31:09 AM GS Asgotra Early Times Report JAMMU, Jan 16: The Institute of Music and Fine Arts (IMFA) Jammu continues to face bias and discrimination at the hands of JU authorities as the institute has been headless for the last nearly ten months; besides the incharge Principal-who is also the Head of Dogri department of Jammu University-had no time to visit the Institute for the last three months. As a result, the functioning of headless IMFA has been paralyzed and Jammu University is least bothered about it. Source in Institute of Music and Fine Art informed Early Times that after the separation of IMFA from Art and Culture Academy Jammu, it came under the control of University of Jammu but instead of improvement the functioning as was expected, it witnessed degradation. "After the superannuation of Vijay Saraf, nearly 10 months back, there is no development in any field. State government had sanctioned nearly Rs. 75 Lakhs for renovation of college but with no head in place, the renovation work has been delayed", he said. He further said that due to lackadaisical approach of the Higher Education department toward Art and Music, the student are facing multiple problems. A teacher of IMFA wishing anonymity said that the Jammu and Kashmir government has a policy to rehabilitate even militants but same government has no policy for Art and culture, which have been deteriorating with each passing day. "We had personally visited the office of Incharge Principal, but instead of taking some action, she had expressed helplessness and had said that it was not by her choice that she was given charge of IMFA, but she was under compulsion to hold the post", a faculty member said. Director Colleges, Tariq Ahmed Kawoosa when contacted said that it was not in his Jurisdiction to say anything, and advised to contact Registrar of University of Jammu.
