NSS volunteers attend 5th Bhartiya Chhatra Sansad

jammu, Jan 16: Five NSS Volunteers of Government Degree College Kathua brought laurels to the institution by attending the prestigious Fifth Bhartiya Chhatra Sansad at Pune, held on January 10-12 2015.
According to press release, over 10000 students from all over India attended the Sansad. Only 25 students from all over J&K were selected for this mega event among which NSS Volunteers Mannu Sharma, Vishal Pathania, Preeti Raina, Sourav Kumar and Pooja Mahajan represented Govt. Degree College Kathua.
The event was organised by MIT School of Government, Pune under the supervision of Dr. Rahul Vishwanath Karad, Founder/Convenor Bhartiya Chhatra Sansad. The event provided a platform for the students to interact with dignitaries from various political pursuits and a chance to have a deep insight into the essence of political and democratic system in India.
Of the various students participating in the Sansad, Vishal Pathania from Govt. Degree College Kathua was one among the 40 students selected to present their views on various topics of debate in present political setup of India. He presented his views on the topic 'Caste: Impairing or Repairing Democracy'. For his outstanding performance in the debate he was felicitated by Dr. Vishwanath Karad, Founder and Executive President, MIT Group of Institutions and Dr. Rahul Vishwanath Karad, Founder/Convenor Bhartiya Chhatra Sansad. He was presented with a metal citation for his extraordinary display.
Participating students also got a chance to meet various political leaders from different political parties under the same roof. Kiron Kher, Nitin Gadkari, Anna Hazare, Devindra Fadnavis, Shiv Raj Singh Chouhan were among various leaders who interacted with the students during the Sansad.
The NSS Volunteers from Govt. Degree College who participated in this event were received by Principal and NSS Programme Officers of the College and an interactive session was held in the conference hall of the college wherein the volunteers shared their experiences with the staff and students of the college. Principal of the college Dr. B.L. Singh lauded the efforts of NSS Programme Officers Dr. Ram Singh, Dr. Rachna, and Dr. Suraya Partap Singh for preparing and encouraging the volunteers in such mega National events.
He also congratulated the volunteers for successfully attending the Sansad and making the presence of the college felt at national level. He added that this achievement has not only brought name for the college but for whole of the J&K state. Among others who were present in the interaction were Prof. P.K. Rao, Prof. Sumanesh Jasrotia, Dr. R.K. Manhas, Dr. Arun Dev Singh, Prof. Kailash, Prof. Sumeet Dubey, Kiran Rani, Joginder Gupta and Suresh Sharma.
