Prosecution failure leads to acquittal of four in 'minor's gang rape' case | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Jan 16 (JNF): Presiding Officer Fast Track court Y P Kotwal has acquitted four accused who were facing trial in gang rape with a minor following the prosecution failure. Court after hearing both the sides observed that from careful perusal of evidence of prosecutrix there is nothing to suggest against the accused had committed the offence and accordingly proceedings against the accused are truncated at this stage as the evidence prosecutrix tendered during the trial would not prove the charge against the accused. As such prosecution case is dismissed and acquitted all four accused namely Pankaj Kumar, Rajat Sharma, Jamil Khan and Khurshid Ahmed who was facing trial in Gang rape with minor, as prosecution failed. According to the police case on March 15, 2014 in the evening while the prosecutrix had gone to a shop, accused Pankaj Singh with criminal intention had kidnapped her and taken her to his house at Purkhoo on scooty, where he had committed rape on the prosecutrix for two nights thereafter on March 17, 2014 while accused was taking the prosecutrix from his house towards Jammu police had recovered the prosecutrix from his possession. According to police prior to recovery other accused named in the case had also raped her, case said. |
