Kathua, Feb 4: To create awareness about activities and schemes of the Handicrafts Department. A special awareness camp was organized at village Hote at Kathua.
Director Handicrafts Jammu, Tariq Hussain Ganai was the chief guest and the camp was organized by the Assistant Director Handicrafts Kathua.
Scores of the Handicrafts artisans, trainees, Ex-trainees, members of the co-operative societies, Sarpanch and panchs participated in the event. The Director stressed upon the artisans to focus on the crafts such as Basohli Art Painting, Bamboo Work and Calico Printing. As these Crafts, have a lot of potential and scope in the district. He stressed Assistant Director to register the Ex-trainees and local artisans through door to door campaign in a time bound manner within 3 months.
Assistant Director Handicrafts Kathua, Pawan Kotwal said that un-employed youths can get self employment by establishing their own Handicrafts units through forming Handicrafts Cooperative societies after training. He also elaborated the micro- credit, Artisans credit plan schemes and health insurance scheme launched by the department. |
