JAMMU, Feb 4: Terming it as a contemptuous remark made by Pakistan's foreign secretary Aijaz Chaudhary that India is changing the demography of Kashmir by settling non-state citizens in Jammu city, Jammu politicos dismiss it as another desperate attempt made by Pakistan to create chaos in Jammu and Kashmir
"What Pakistan has to do with it, India needs a pat on the back to be liberal enough to accommodate people who are thrown out by Pakistan itself. The state of Pakistan is a deep state that has no locus standi. Aijaz Chaudhary's statement is just out of desperation as he knows that now that Jammu and Kashmir goes well with India," said Hina Bhat, senior BJP leader while talking to Early Times on phone from Srinagar.
She said Pakistan has enough to see into its own misgivings and hence has no authority to interfere into the affairs of India which is integrally strongly bonded.
Pakistan's foreign secretary Aijaz Chaudhary at Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) conference has said that India is deliberately altering the demographic makeup of Jammu and Kashmir by settling non-state citizens in Indian-held Kashmir and turning its Muslim majority into a minority by dividing the population on ethnic, religious and communal lines
The political expert on Pakistan affairs Hari Om too gives two hoots to the claim made by Pakistan.
He said the statement of Chaudhary is highly flawed, communally motivated, provocative and anti-humanity.
It is Pakistan sponsored terrorism over the years that have changed the demography of of Kashmir to te extent that the region has turned out to be a one community region only, he said.
"It is the demography of Gilgit-Baltistan that has been dented by Pakistan itself. The Shia majority of the area had been over the years reduced to the minority by settling Pakistan Sunnis which has brought a drastic change," said Hari Om adding that Pakistan 's statement on the refugees settlement has no takers .
The Jammu and Kashmir National Party chairman Harsh Dev too dismisses such statement as an oft-rehtoric made by Pakistan out of desperation.
Singh said that refugees n Jammu and Kashmir or any other party of India are entitled to all humanitarian and legal rights and Pakistan has nothing to do with it .
"It is our issue and not the issue of Pakistan," said Harsh Dev Singh.
Singh said that Pakistan has been embarking on the tricky methods to create confusion, disturbance and chaos in the state. It has one modus operandii to perturb the peace and tranquility of the state and it would keep on doing so ," said Harsh Dev Singh.
The foreign secretary urged OIC members to use their influence to pressurize India to fulfil its obligations under UN resolutions to de-militarise Kashmir, hold plebiscite and refrain from human rights violations
A senior PDP leader not wishing to be named said that since the US President Barack Obama's hospitality with India, Pakistan has grown desperate and looking out for means and methodology to poke India on any issue that comes their way,
"Obama-Modi meet has send a strong signal worldwide that many things are likely to be changed with terrorism too getting its piece of mind from the two world leaders which has left Pakistan 2quite desperate. Such statement from Pakistan's foreign secretary is just out of desperation as Pakistan has failed to succeed on the terrorism front and has also lost the credibility as a nation in the world," said the PDP leader.
