JAMMU, Feb 4: District Football Association (DFA) Anantnag and GGM Science College won their respective matches to advance into the next round of the ongoing IIIrd Christmas Soccer Championship at GGM Science College ground, here today.
In the first match of the day, DFA Anantnag defeated Kathua Football Club 2-1. Aquib and Tahir were the scorers from Anantnag while Rizwan Ali reduced the margin from Kathua.
Meanwhile, in another match of the day, GGM Science College blanked Singh Club R S Pura 3-0. The young and agile side of Science College dominated the field throughout thus made it a one-sided contest.
Pranab remained star striker, who struck twice in the 36th and 65th minute to help the side take invincible 2-0 lead. The lead was further improved by Science College when Anuj Sharma netted the ball in the 68th minute.
Now, Science College shall be playing in their second round match of quarterfinals against DFA Anantnag at 11.30 am tomorrow.
