World Cancer Day observed

Jammu, Feb 4 : World Cancer Day was today observed Under the aegis of UICC Geneva Radiations of Hope in innovative way in association with Maharishi Dayanand Hospital and MRC. A unique environment cleanliness drive with Mission Clean India Cancer Free India was held near New Nandini Tunnel where people from all walks of life joined in. This event was acknowledged and supported by Sri Mata Vaishno Devi University, J and K Dharmarth Trust, J and K Arya Pratinidhi Sabha, AFCONS Infrastructure pvt. Ltd. and various other organizations.
On 4th February a Colloquium first of its kind on Managing Cancer Involving all stake holders was organized where Dr Deepak Abrol founder of group Radiations of Hope gave a presentation on importance and history of world cancer day and apprised about activities carried by the group. Dr Rahul Sharma Associate Prof and Head of unit RCC Jammu have a detailed presentation on Cancer Awareness. A very well informative interactive discussion was also held in which Major Gen. R.S Jamwal(President Dharmarth Trust), Dr Dinesh Kumar (HOD community medicine GMC), Dr Rahul Sharma, Mr Shujat Khan (Secy Anjumane Imamia), and Dr Rakesh Kumar (Asst Prof Cancer research lab SMVDU) were panelists. The discussion was moderated by Dr Deepak Abrol. Vote of thanks was presented by Event Co-Ordinator Mr. Sandeep Mengi. The Event was Honoured by Presence of Dr.Altaf Wani,Divison ,Head Radiation Biology ,OHIO, USA. LBN slate of honour for outstanding services to the society was presented to Dr. Ghanshyam Dev Gupta Principal GMC Jammu who alongwith Director Health Services Jammu was the Guest Of Honour. Besides patients and their attendants and people from all walks of life dignitaries who joined the colloquium included Lt. Gen (Retd.) L.P Sadhotra (Ex-DGMS Army), Dr. Kasturi Lal, Dr. Rajinder Singh (former principals GMC), Dr. Jasbir Singh (Ex- DHS), Sh. Shashi Khajuria (Secretary Dharmarth Trust, J&K), Pawan Shastri (President Jammu Yatri Bhawan Trust) Mr. Arun Choudhary (Senior vice President Arya Pratinidhi Sabha) Dr. Kuldeep Gupta, Mrs. Sukriti Choudhary, Dr.Yash Gandotra (Managing Partner, MDH& MRC) and specialists from different fields of medicine. Media Co- Ordinator Mr. Gaurav Gupta while briefing the press said that our event of week long activities was a successful one and we are able to percolate cancer awareness even to the remote areas.
