JK Police chief blames anti-India leaders for youth's killing | | | Early Times Report
srinagar, Feb 10: A day after government forces killed a Kashmir youth during protests, the Director General of Police in Jammu and Kashmir K Rajendra Kumar today blamed the anti-India leaders of provoking youth to hurl stones. DGP said, "Loss of any life is unfortunate. I regret the loss of the innocent life of Phalhaln youth. Police is ready to do whatever is possible for the slain youth's family. I have ordered the police investigation into the killing and have asked investigating authorities to submit the report as soon as possible," he said and added that the investigations have started. Farooq Ahmad Bhat was killed and two others were injured when police opened fire on a group of boys who were protesting against nocturnal raids ahead of anniversary of Parliament attack convict, Afzal Guru at Palhalan in North Kashmir's Baramulla district. He further said that the police will find all the circumstances that led to Farooq Ahmad Bhat's killing. "The initial reports said that there was heavy attack from the huge mob on the police party deployed in the area but everything will be cleared and case will be thoroughly investigated," he said. Terming the strike calls unlawful, the DGP said, "The strike calls given by the separatist leaders are unlawful. They provoke the innocent youth for their political means and indulge them into the stone pelting. I appeal the youth that instead of pelting stones they should focus on their education and health," he said. The protesters on Monday clashed with police and para-military CRPF forces in the area and police fired teargas shells and pellets to disperse protesters. As the situation turned volatile, police allegedly opened fire resulting in injuries to three persons Farooq, Riyaz Ahmad Bhat and Zahid Ahmad Bhat. The injured were shifted to a hospital where Farooq, 23, of Baghat Mohalla in Palhalan succumbed to injuries while two others are critical.
