JAMMU, Feb 10: Coming all the way from Kashmir to take part in the range (Jammu-Samba-Kathua) level football tournament, organised by J&K Police, Kashmir United Football Club today lifted the IIIrd Christmas Soccer Championship after they beat another Valley team of Novelty Football Club, Srinagar in sudden death at GGM Science College ground, here. Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Jammu, Shakeel Ahmed Beig was chief guest, who gave away the winners and runners-up trophies as also other individual prizes. The winning team awarded with a cash prize worth Rs 15,000 while goalkeeper of same team, Ishan was adjudged best player of the tournament. Earlier, the title clash ended in a 2-2 draw in the stipulated time, followed by the tie-breakers, which too could not yield any results. However, in sudden death Kashmir United emerged winner making it a 6-5 win in the well contested game. The title clash officiated by the technical penal including Harnit Singh, Ranjay Kumar, Javed Ahmed and Bilal Ahmed. This tournament was organised by J&K Police in collaboration with Christian Sports Organization. Chairman of the Christian Sports Organisation, Fr. Kuriakose presided over the valedictory function. Member of State Sports Council, Ranjeet Kalra, manager Federal Bank, Parmod Kumar, manger, South Indian Bank, Palki Anand and chief manager, Canara Bank, Rakesh Ranjan were special guests. |
