Kathua, Feb.10: Regional Transport Officer Kathua today organized a bid for sole numbers in the premises of RTO office Lakhanpur where dozens of commuters bid to get special registration numbers for their vehicles. Karam Chand, a businessman, today, bid for '0001' ( JK08E) registration number and got the number by huge amount of Rs 76000/- . The department also bid for another such registration numbers which are considered to be special numbers.It is pertinent to mention here that Motor Vehicle Department, MVD, Kathua first time attempted to arrange such a bid to collect revenue for the department. Earlier, commuters booked registration numbers on their efforts without submitting extra fees for numbers of their own choices. MVD Jammu usually arranges such bids for special registration numbers.
While interacting to media, Salim Manhas, ARTO, said the department will arrange such bids in future to collect revenue for the department. He informed that department would bid for other special registration numbers too in days to come. |
