Rehriwalas allege harassment by MC officials | | | Early Times Report
Rajouri, Feb 10: 'Rajouri Rehriwala Association' has lamented the Municipal Corporation and district administration for rendering them jobless by removing their reharies and kiosks despite being paid monthly sums to run their petty businesses. In this regard the RRA held a protest demonstration before the office of Deputy Commissioner against alleged harassment by Municipal Committee (MC) officials. Rafiq Ahemad, Mohd Mustaq and other said that for the last many years they have been depositing Rs3100 every year in the MC office for selling items on Rehris on road sides and feeding their families. "But for the last few days MC officials along with district administration have removed their rehris on the pretext that it causes frequent traffic jams between Abdullah bridge and district hospital a stretch of about 1500 meters. "We are facing many difficulties in running our daily family affairs including ration and school fees of the children due to uncooperative attitude of the Municipal Committee officials and district administration" said Mohd Sharief. Later these Rehriwalas met with Deepati Uppal, deputy commissioner and apprised her about their problems and also demanded identified place for them so that they may continue their routine work soon.Deputy Commissioner after giving patient hearing to the demands of the Rehariwalas, assured them to discuss their demands with concerned officials and also assured to mitigate their problems soon. |
