Jammu, Feb 10: Jammu Kashmir State Rural Livelihood Mission (JKSRLM) has launched its Umeed project in one more block at "Dansal" of Jammu District in Jammu Region. The Umeed project which is meant for poverty eradication has been implemented in 7 blocks of Jammu Region so far. Now on 10th Feb 2015 the JKSRLM expanded its project to Dansal block. On the occasion of launching the project in Dansal Block the Mission arranged an orientation program at Nagrota on 10th Feb 2015. The orientation program is conducted in BDO office in which DrYogitaRana, IAS, State Representative, NRLM, Arun Manhas, Additional Mission Director, Umeed, Jammu Region, Suresh Babu, State Anchor Person, Umeed, Keval Sharma, Project Officer (DRDA), Jammu, Zahur Akram, Block Program Manager, Dansal participated. The Sarpanches and Panches of the Nagrota Block, Women from the different villages, Bankers, Staff of the BDO also took part in the program. By addressing the gathering Dr Yogita Rana said that Umeed is the best project for poverty eradication as well brings a greater change in the lives of the poor and poorest of the poor. She seeks the support of sarpanches for the successful implementation of the project. She requested the poor women to come forward to join in the Self Help Groups(SHGs) which will show them the new way of life. She also explained the importance of the SHGs and Panchasutra following by which the group and other community based institutions such as Village Organisations, Cluster Level Federations will be sustainable. Arun Manhas in his speech explained the implementation process of the project. He stressed the beauty of the project that poor women themselves can run the project on their own. He narrated the financial benefits and the importance of social mobilization by which poor people can overcome the poverty. Two of the sarpanches also expressed their views over the project and gave their commitment for their support for the project. |
